House Cleaning
Schedule to Ease the Pain of Cleaning
When
cleaning house, I often found myself scattered when trying
to maintain my cleaning duties. Monday through Friday, I
was trying to juggle back and forth an entire handful of
cleaning chores that I had thought needed to get done.
Often feeling that there just was not enough time in the
week, I would end up very tired and drained after just
one-day’s worth of cleaning. Trying to clean house this
way months at a time just wasn’t going to cut it anymore
so I sought out a solution. I realized that it wasn’t that
I hadn’t enough time in the week, but was more so that I
was not organized in my cleaning, and I was trying to take
on too much at a time. The solution was simple: Organize a
house cleaning schedule that was compatible with my
cleaning activities.

A cleaning schedule can be beneficial for any one who would
like to maintain a cleanly household but has other priorities
to attend to as well. This will undoubtedly make your cleaning
easier and relieve any stress you may have if you are trying to
juggle the entire household in one day. Making a cleaning
schedule is as simple as laying out all of your household
cleaning duties then organizing them according to priority.
The only challenge is the adjustment factor. With any new
change there is a bit of adjustment to get used to, so
maintaining a consistent cleaning schedule and keeping with it
can sometimes be difficult. After the first week of using a
schedule I began to slack and it really showed when everything
began to pile up on me. Fortunately enough, this was sufficient
motivation to encourage me to stay with a consistent schedule,
making my cleaning responsibilities and life much easier.
The key is to create a schedule that is compatible with the
amount of time you’re able to dedicate to house cleaning. This
time will often change, so it’s ok to make adjustments as
necessary.
The first step is to create a cleaning checklist. Map out on a
piece of paper or word document, all of your cleaning chores.
Next, mark whether these are activities you handle on a daily
basis, weekly basis, monthly basis, semi-annual or annual
basis. Whats great about this, is it will automatically cut
your list into sections, allowing you to see when certain
things need to be taken care of and when they don’t.
Here is an example of how your list should look when
completed.

Once you have your cleaning checklist finished, let’s move
on to the next step!
The next step is to organize this in a cleaning
schedule. Below is a sample schedule that you can use, or
even alter to fit your own tastes. Once the list has been
filled out, print it out, and put it in places where you will
see it; the refrigerator for example.
Here is an example image of what your cleaning schedule
should look like. Please feel free to tailor your own schedule
however you want. The image represented below is just used for

The list is very simple and easy to use. Just list your
cleaning chores in the appropriate category according to
when they need to be done. Use the “Check off when
finished” box to check off a task when
completed. If you have any additional things you would
like to remember about a certain task, try adding an additional
box to your schedule for “notes”.
Using a cleaning schedule as simple as this one will help
you to ensure an organized approach to house cleaning. No
longer will we have to fight to get as much done as we can. Now
we will have a pre-planned layout of what to do, and when to do
it.
